2. Travel down Oliver Plunkett Street

3. Sculpture 1 – Boom Nouveau by Forerunner

  • Located at Cook Street and Oliver Plunkett Street Junction.
  • There is a small step from Oliver Plunkett Street onto all side streets but there are intermittent slopes along the way also.
  • Both streets are pedestrianised.
  • This can be a very busy junction.
  • The sculpture illuminates from dusk each evening until 11pm
  • Buskers often perform in front of the sculpture

4. Continue traveling down Oliver Plunkett Street.

This street is predominantly pedestrianised (from 11am – 4am, 7 days a week)

5. Sculpture 2 – The Face Cup by artist Fiona Mulholland

  • The artworks are located on the side of the historic Exchange Building on the corner of Princes Street and Oliver Plunkett St.
  • Both streets are pedestrianised. (Princes St from 9.30am – 4am, 7 days a week. Oliver Plunkett St from 11am – 4am, 7 days per week)
  • Please note that early in the mornings, while there is less footfall, there may be bins and other marketing materials at this location from nearby businesses which you may have to navigate.
  • It is suggested that during the hours when the streets are pedestrianised, the narrow footpaths can be busy and the space on Princes St in front of the barriers might be the quietest place to stop safely without obstructing the paths.

6. Turn right, cross Oliver Plunkett Street, continue down Princes Street

7. At the end turn right and travel down St. Patrick’s Street to the nearest pedestrian crossing.

8. Cross the pedestrian crossing and turn left. Travel to Carey’s Lane

9. Sculpture 3 – Sentinels [flew through the ages in the shape of birds] by Niamh McCann

  • This is a lane-length sculpture which runs the length of Carey’s Lane.
  • The work is fixed above head height on the lane and is held by the simple image of a seagull, perched atop a neon strip, sentinel-like on either end of Carey’s Lane.
  • Along Carey’s Lanes there are numerous businesses which can have outdoor furniture placed along the lane.
  • This can be a very busy thoroughfare, with lots of people walking in each direction.

10. At the end of Carey’s Lane turn left. Travel down Paul St. until you meet the Cornmarket St. Junction.

Paul Street Plaza is pedestrianised.

You will cross a road, walking towards Bank of Ireland on the left-hand side of the street. This part of Paul Street is not pedestrianised, but there are narrow footpaths either side.

The right-hand footpath has a very high step on the corner with Cornmarket Street

11. Turn right onto Cornmarket St. and continue ahead. This street is not pedestrianised but there are wide footpaths either side of the road.

The path on the left-hand side has several permanent market stalls, which may be closed.

The Coal Quay Market takes place here every Saturday morning from 8am – 2pm and this can cause the footpath to be busy at these times.

12. Sculpture 4 – Urban Mirror by plattenbaustudio

  • Urban Mirror is intended to be a space used by the public.
  • You are welcome to sit on any of the stools presented.
  • This is a popular addition to the city and you may encounter people engaging with the piece in numerous ways such as having a coffee, sitting chatting, market traders displaying some of their goods.
  • The ground beneath the table is sloped and the legs of the table closest to the shops are taller, allowing space for a wheelchair or buggy to fit under comfortably
  • You are welcome to stay here as long as you like
  • You do not have to purchase any food or drink to enjoy using the Urban Mirror table
  • There is a tall light in the centre with a yellow globe-like light on top. This illuminates at night, creating a landmark in the area, making it easy to locate

13. Return back down Cornmarket St. until you reach the end.

Turn right on to Castle Street and travel to the end until you reach North Main St.
